Compass Calendar

By being the best version of myself, I can make a difference.

This project challenged me to look within myself, to see what motivates me, and to translate that into a calendar that can motivate me throughout the year.

My design consists of two painted Koi fish along with the circular brush stroke called the enso. Enso has a deep meaning within Zen philosophy, but a summary of what it represents is:  the ultimate state of creating. This, altogether is what I chose to motivate me throughout the year. The calendar dates are read alongside the ripples, starting at the red Koi. The dates move counter-clockwise, following the flow of the fish.

Printed, the enso and scales have been decorated with gold vinyl. 22" x 28"
