Birth of venus

This piece was for a group art show called Tough. It was a show to celebrate women. Proceeds went toward non-profit organizations.

For this piece, I wanted to create a fun, girly watercolor painting that revels the female body. This would be on hand stretched canvas, 20" x 11". As a symbol of this, I wanted to create a confident and curvy womyn, taking a mirror picture in her undies. A contemporary take on how womyn appreciate their physical features. Where a womyn who would usually be shamed for taking such pictures, is shown in the point of view as a powerful figure, celebrating all her curves. The painting also alludes to the classical painting, "The Birth of Venus" by Botticelli, to parallel this curvy womyn with the all powerful goddess, Venus, the one whom embodies love, sex, beauty, fertility, etc.
